Watertown officer resigns amid theft charges
A Watertown police officer has resigned after being charged with stealing jewelry from a police-sponsored charity golf tournament.
The department says Christopher Masayda resigned instead of being fired.
State police arrested Masayda in November after he was seen allegedly stealing the jewelry.
The jewelry was donated as raffle prizes for a golf tournament raising money for a cancer treatment center.
