The State Sentencing Commission has voted to overhaul Connecticut's sex offender registry.
The changes would move low-level offenders to a private list that could only be viewed by law enforcement.
The idea is to keep low-risk offenders from being denied jobs or housing.
The recommendations will now go to state lawmakers, who will hold a hearing when they return in February.
