Woodbridge police seek holiday package thieves

Posted: Updated:
WOODBRIDGE -

Woodbridge police are seeking the public's help in identifying thieves who are targeting packages in town.

Police say they believe two people are responsible for taking packages from in front of several homes in the area of Rimmon Road between noon and 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Video from one of the victims' homes shows a four-door, tan Oldsmobile Alero drive up to the house. The passenger gets out and rings the doorbell, and when he appears to believe no one is home, steals the packages, puts them in the car, and then they drive off.

The Alero has a spoiler, a plastic bag over the driver's side window and Connecticut plates on the front and back.

Police ask anyone with information to call them at 203-387-2511.

To prevent package thefts, police suggest requiring a signature for any delivery, tracking package deliveries via text or email and getting packages sent to your workplace or a neighbor who you know will be home.
