A family of fishmongers in Fairfield is saying farewell the holiday season after 45 years.
Sunday is the last Christmas Eve the Swanson's Fish Market will be open. The family says the business changed, and five shops became one, and now, it's time to say goodbye.
"I can't really shake it," says Larissa Swanson. "It's just so strange to know that next year we are not going to be open."
Days after the news of the sale, founder of the market, and Swanson’s grandfather Jerry, passed away.
"He started this whole business," Swanson says. "He paved a beautiful life for my family because of this business."
Swanson's Fish Market's final day of business is New Year's Eve. A deli will take its place.
