Police: Liquor store employee slashed during attempted robbery

A Clifton liquor store employee is recovering after he was slashed during an attempted robbery, according to police.
Clifton police say that officers were called to Limonta Liquors on Vernon Avenue on Dec. 13 after the store’s alarm went off. Responding officers found the store in disarray with a number of broken bottles on the floor, according to officials.
Police also found a store employee who was injured. The employee told police that a man came into the store armed with a knife and demanded cash. Police say that the two men got into a physical altercation and the employee was slashed by the suspect’s knife. The suspect fled the scene and did not take any money, according to officials.
Police identified the suspect as Paterson resident Kevin Owens, 35. He was arrested a few days after the robbery by the Paterson Police Department “during the course of an unrelated investigation,” according to Clifton police.
