NORWALK -

Eversource spokesperson Mitch Gross spoke with News 12 and offered tips on what to do in case of a power outage, among other things.

In case of a power outage, customers should immediately call it in (800)-286-2000 or report it at eversource.com.

Regarding downed power lines, Gross says to never go near them and to call 911 immediately.

Safety generators should be put as far away from your house as possible, and away from vents and windows.

Generators create carbon monoxide; make sure they are installed by a licensed professional.
