Two Milford men went on a window-smashing, chicken-killing rampage this Christmas after one of them saw social media images of his wife with other people, police say.
Gregory Ulrich and John Budnovtich were drinking together at the Redwood Restaurant on Naugatuck Avenue, police say, when the video sent Ulrich into a jealous rage.
Investigators accuse the two of using an ax handle to smash 10 car windows that belonged to people they had seen in the video.
After that, according to police, Ulrich asked Budnovitch to drive him to two homes that he knew had backyard chicken coops. He allegedly took 10 chickens from each coop and snapped their necks with his bare hands, leaving behind a trail of blood and feathers.
"This case is sparking a lot of interest," says Michael DeVito, of the Milford Police Department. "Not just for the bizarreness of it, but for the heinous act and sheer cruelty of it."
Both men were released on bond. They are due back in court at the end of the month to face multiple charges of vandalism and animal cruelty.
AP wire services contributed to this report.
