Port Washington schools threaten dog walkers over pet droppings

Port Washington Union Free School District is fed up with dog walkers not picking up after their pets.
School officials say dog droppings are being found on the high school's athletic fields, which feature brand-new artificial turf.  The turf was paid for by part of a $70 million bond.
In response, the school installed signs instructing offenders to keep their dogs off the property. According to the district, the warnings have either gone unnoticed or have been blatantly ignored.
Officials say they are taking the matter one step further by threatening to call the police if they spot someone walking their pets on school grounds.
