Court douments: Uniondale man kidnapped, locked up girlfriend for 3 days
A Uniondale man kidnapped his teenage ex-girlfriend, kept her locked up for three days and then kidnapped her again when she tried to escape, according to court documents.
Michael Villanueva, 23, was arraigned on kidnapping, robbery, grand larceny and criminal contempt charges in Hempstead court Wednesday.
Kelly Rodriguez, 19, says the ordeal began Friday when Villanueva was parked in a lot on West Main Street in East Islip. She was outside her home with her dog, Grizzly Bear.
Rodriguez says Villanueva then drove over to her and snatched up her dog. She says she jumped in the car to get her dog and call police from her cellphone.
"He takes my phone and he drives off with me and my dog," she told News 12 Long Island
Police say Rodriquez was held for three days in Villanueva's basement apartment on Second Place in Uniondale. Rodriguez says she cooperated with Villanueva because he repeatedly threatened to kill her, her family and the dog.
"He said he'll buy a gun and shoot us all, that really scared me," says Rodriguez.
On Monday, police say Rodriguez was allowed to call her mother, who could tell that something was wrong.
"She asked me if I was being held against my will… and she said help is on the way," said Rodriguez.
Police say the 19-year-old already had a previous restraining order against Villanueva for domestic violence.
Villanueva is being held on $700,000 bond or $350,000 cash bail.
