Stamford's Board of Representatives removes gender pronouns from rules

Stamford's Board of Representatives is officially changing the language used in its rule book to remove gender pronouns.
Representative Raven Matherne, a newly elected representative who is openly transgender, says she noticed the redundancy of gender pronouns in the legislative body's Rule of Order.
“I had actually ended up saying ‘let’s let it ride a little bit and see how it goes.’ This is not on the top of my list, not on the top of my agenda,” said Matherne.
It was other representatives who approached Matherne to say they would like to eliminate gender pronouns from the rules and replace them with the titles of the positions they apply to.
“We should've done this already because words matter and this is an important issue that we treat each and every person with equal respect,” says David Martin the Mayor of Stamford.
Matherne says the board may look into making similar changes to the code of ethics next.
Representative Matherne has been on FOX News to address this topic, and in the coming days, she's scheduled to have an interview with NPR.
