Fairfield 11-year-old to visit Washington Post newsroom

FAIRFIELD -

An 11-year-old Fairfield girl will get a chance to visit the Washington Post newsroom after a brief Twitter conversation went viral.

Katie Reddy, a fourth-grade student, says she thinks she'll get to visit the paper's Washington, D.C. headquarters in April.

She reads the paper every day, and when her cousin, himself a reporter for the New York Times, tweeted about it, the paper replied.

The brief back-and-forth has been retweeted thousands of times.

"We were just blown away by their response," says John Reddy, the girl's father.

Katie says she wants to grow up and become a journalist.

Since the tweet, News 12 Connecticut and NBC's "Today" show have offered her invitations to visit.
