Road crews made their final preparations for expected snow Tuesday evening around southwestern Connecticut, but at least one Norwalk heavy equipment shop plans to stay open for 24 hours to help anyone in need of service.
At Brandman's Equipment in Norwalk, truck drivers say plowing the roads is risky business.
"I always bring all my equipment to Brandman's," says Christopher Jones, a plow driver who went in Tuesday to have his truck's lights fixed. "They're just dependable, nice guys."
This season can put a lot of wear and tear on plows, salt trucks and snowblowers, says Ross Brandman, the shop owner.
He says he's kept his shop open around the clock leading up to storms for the last five years in order to meet the demand for emergency service.
"At 3 o'clock in the morning, when you've got 60 or 70 customers to plow, and your plow breaks down, you're really in trouble," Brandman says. "We figure that people depend on us. So regardless of the weather, regardless of the time of day, we're here."
