Homeowners hospitalized after Stamford house fire

Two homeowners were hospitalized Wednesday after a fire in their Stamford home.
The fire broke out around 5:30 a.m. at the home on Old Long Ridge Road.
Fire Chief Trevor Roach says the fire started in an addition in the back of the house. Roach says the home was fully engulfed in flames when crews arrived.
Crews were able to put out the fire before it spread to the main part of the home, and Roach says the homeowners made it out safely before firefighters arrived.
Officials say the home's extension is a total loss, and there is smoke and water damage to the rest of the home.
The homeowners were treated for smoke inhalation, but are expected to be OK.
Crews rescued one dog from the home. Another dog ran away, but News 12 is told it found its way back.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
