WATERTOWN -

Police in Watertown say a man from Naugatuck has been charged with hitting a police officer and his cruiser while driving away from a traffic stop.

It happened Thursday afternoon near Lakeview Drive.

According to police, Orlando Ramos was drunk when he put the car in reverse and hit the officer.

Police say the officer was hit in the shoulder and arm, but is expected to be OK.

Ramos was able to get away, but tips from drivers led officers to Waterbury, where Ramos was found driving a car with three tires.
