1 of 4 suspects in Wilton jewelry store robbery charged
One of four people wanted for stealing more than $20,000 in merchandise from a jewelry store in Wilton has been charged in the crime.
Yolanda Santa, 56, was arrested last month at her home in Ridgewood, New York.
She returned Wednesday to Connecticut.
The crime happened at Campus Jewelers on River Road back in October and was all caught on camera.
According to police, Santa and two other women distracted the sales people while a man who came with them stole jewelry from behind the counter.
The man in the video can be seen stuffing the merchandise into a brown paper shopping bag.
Police say the suspects then purchased an item with cash and took off with the thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry.
The NYPD, Nassau County Sheriff's Department and FBINYC all assisted in identifying the suspects.
Police have secured arrest warrants for the three other suspects involved.
