Authorities in Watertown are warning pet owners to keep their animals supervised outside after a coyote attacked a small dog.
It happened early Wednesday morning on Booth Avenue.
The owners of the dog say the coyote ran off when they yelled.
The dog is now recovering from bite wounds.
While coyote attacks in Watertown are rare, animal control reminds residents that pets should always be supervised at night when coyotes are out hunting.
