Bridgeport Mayor Joe Ganim is appealing to the public to adopt one of 30 dogs seized from a local residence two weeks ago.
The dogs and a cat were taken from a home on Kent Street after investigators learned of the "shocking conditions" there, and executed a search warrant.
Police arrested a 72-year-old woman and charged her with 31 counts of animal cruelty.
Ganim said the pets have been treated and cleared for adoption.
