Police in Stamford have a warning for drivers Thursday night in the downtown section of the city -- watch out for pedestrians in crosswalks or be prepared to pay.
Police have ticketed 17 drivers for failure to grant the right of way to pedestrians in just the past three days.
According to police, the drivers are lucky no one was injured in any of the instances.
It's all part of a city-wide effort to reduce the number of walkers struck and killed by cars in the city, especially in downtown.
