NUMC fires 9 appointees to make room for more nurses

A Nassau County hospital has announced that nine high paid appointees have been fired to save money to pay for more nurses.
Nassau University Medical Center says the elimination of the jobs will save the hospital $1.6 million a year.
The hospital will use the savings to hire 37 civil service workers, including more nurses and medical technicians.
The hospital Board of Trustees says the appointed positions were unnecessary and wasteful.
