Police: Man knocked victim unconscious, ran him over

A Merrick man has surrendered to police days after police say he went on a violent rampage in downtown Farmingdale.
According to police, Jonathan Bencosme got into an argument with a group of men at 3 a.m. on Sunday in a back parking lot on Main Street. Bencosme allegedly knocked one man out cold.
Police say Bencosme then hopped into a car, went in reverse, and rolled over the unconscious victim and hit another guy who was trying to help.
The 34-year-old unconscious victim suffered a cranial hemorrhage, skull fracture, and broken arms requiring surgery. He was transported to a hospital for treatment. The other victim suffered pain to his shoulders, hips and both knees. He was also transported to a hospital by ambulance for treatment.
News 12 has learned Bencosme then sped off, only to turn himself in on Tuesday.
Bencosme was arraigned on charges including assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.
