Hundreds of students, parents and activists huddled in the freezing rain in Newtown Friday night for a vigil to mourn the 17 victims of last week's shooting in Parkland, Florida.
It was organized and led by students at Newtown High School.
After seeing the familiar breaking news alert that resembled Sandy Hook shooting, the Junior Newtown Action Alliance mobilized to take a stand.
The group is calling on local and federal lawmakers to push for stricter gun laws.
