Police say a man was fatally shot at a Bridgeport motel Monday night.

The shooting happened at the Sunnyside Inn near Lake Street and Reservoir Avenue.

A worker says the victim checked into a room on the second floor around 10:30 p.m. and let three males and one female into the room. About an hour later, he says he heard three or four gunshots.

Police say the man was found on the side of a bed, partly naked and surrounded by blood. Officials say the suspects are on the run.

Police are looking at video footage and speaking to witnesses. They say they are confident they are going to solve the crime quickly.

This marks Bridgeport's fourth homicide of 2018.

Police say they have responded to the motel in the past for incidents involving prostitution and drugs.
