Panel looks to ban plastic bags in Connecticut communities

A Plastic Bag Information Session is looking to bring a plastic bag ban to Connecticut.
Communities in some cities across the U.S. have already successfully banned the use of plastic bags.
The panel spoke on the process of getting rid of plastic bags within each community.
Scientists over the last couple years have come out saying plastic poses a major threat to the environment.
"It's a very complex issue, and it involves working with businesses, with municipalities, with community members, really with everybody, to make sure that the right solutions are found that work for everyone," says Daphne Dixon, co-founder of Live Green Connecticut.
Westport became the first town in Connecticut to ban plastic shopping bags back in 2008.
Not only has the ban been successful, but residents say it has also inspired a broader environmental awareness.
