The heavy, wet snow from Wednesday’s nor’easter brought down many trees throughout the area and made for some very dangerous conditions on the roads.
Many of the trees were already weakened by last week's nor'easter.
In Norwalk, the city declared a snow emergency at 8 p.m. as crews worked to clean the roads and repair power lines. On Creeping Hemlock Drive, another tree fell, knocking out power lines. One resident says about half of the street had its power knocked out. Utility crews were on the scene trying to restore electricity to the neighborhood.
As for the roads, officials in Thomaston posted pictures from an accident on Railroad Street. The two trucks were heavily damaged, but neither driver was seriously injured.
Route 44 in Norfolk was closed for several hours after a tractor-trailer jackknifed.
Gov. Dannel Malloy imposed a temporary ban on tractor-trailers along the state's highways.
The ban has since been lifted, but the governor is urging all drivers to use extreme caution.
The storm also kept state police very busy on the highways.
So far, there has been 954 calls for service, 130 accidents without injuries, five accidents with injuries, zero fatalities, and 360 motorist assists.
