WILTON -

People across western Connecticut faced the daunting task of cleaning up after the nor'easter dumped snow, downed trees and caused power outages.

In Wilton, close to 100 roads were plagued with downed power lines and downed trees, including Dudley Road.

The scene was similar over in Fairfield. Quaker Lane was impassable early this morning after massive tree limbs came crashing down on each end of the street. The town issued a Code Red alert, as more than 170 streets were blocked off.

In New Canaan, downed trees caused problems for drivers. An SUV crashed into one. The driver wasn’t hurt, but police say he had to stay inside until utility crews made sure there were no live wires nearby.

Many schools closed for the second day in a row out of caution today's commute would be too dangerous.
