Bridgeport leaders gathered to take a stand for gun safety.
Officials called for common sense gun safety reform and stressed the importance of avoiding weapons in schools.
"Our biggest accomplishment is the security of all our students," said Bridgeport Police Chief AJ Perez. "The welfare of our children is paramount."
Sen. Richard Blumenthal was also at the event to discuss the red flag law. The Connecticut law allows law enforcement and family members to petition a court to temporarily restrict access to firearms by individuals deemed to pose an imminent threat to themselves or others.
