University Ave. tenants rally for better living conditions

Highbridge tenants say they are fed up with living in a building that they say is falling apart.
Darlene Wallace, a tenant at 1090 University Ave., says her unit has dead rats, mold, mildew, open wires and holes throughout.
Some tenants say they have been dealing with inhumane conditions in the building for years.
The city's Department of Housing Preservation and Development says the building has 240 open violations. It says corrective action will be taken if the landlord does not fix the building's boiler issues.
News 12 did not immediately hear back from the landlord, Esther Rogers, for comment.
