Employees at Sterling Farms Golf Course in Stamford say they're dumbfounded by multiple attempts to steal a golf cart there.
Many of the attempts have been caught on camera, including the most recent incident that happened last Thursday, March 15. The latest video shows someone driving up in a Ford F-150 pickup and trying to tie the car to the truck. The man apparently realizes the rope is too short, so he backs up and tries again. But the rope snaps, and the man drives away.
Police say it happened around 11:30 p.m. in front of Zody's, the restaurant at Sterling Farms that uses the cart for maintenance runs. Restaurant employees say they're amazed that the cart, which they say is the worst one on the course, is repeatedly targeted.
The cart is now chained to a rock and lacks a steering wheel. Zody's workers say the cart had about $1,000 worth of damage done to it. They call it "Frankenstein" for its apparent ability to keep coming back from the dead.
Stamford police ask anyone with information to call them at 203-977-4407.
