The New York International Auto Show kicks off this weekend, featuring some of the newest and hottest cars, and News 12 Connecticut's Eric Landskroner got a sneak peek Wednesday.
Among the showcased cars is the new Rimac, which tops out at 258 mph and is so packed with high-tech features that it uses facial recognition to allow the driver inside.
Mark Schienberg, the show's president, says it's one of the so-called hypercars -- an exclusive label applied to about $20 million worth of high-end cars displayed on just one small area of the show floor.
"The Rimac is just a fantastic car that goes for about 1.6 million euros, which is about $2 million in U.S. dollars," Shienberg says.
Hypercars are just part of the show. Shienberg says there are about 1,000 vehicles overall.
"Of course you've got the exotic cars, but you also have some of the biggest vehicle introductions that are happening here," he says.
Those include the new luxury Ram pickup truck, and the new Nissan Altima and Toyota RAV4.
