STAMFORD -

Police say a Stamford man was arrested after stabbing another man several times.

The incident happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday at Lione Park, located near Merrill and Stillwater avenues.

Police say Evans Powell, 26, and the victim got into a fight in the park and that the victim suffered multiple stab wounds, including to the back. They say the suspect fled and that the victim drove himself to the hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

Powell was spotted by officers driving on Cove Road Wednesday afternoon. Police say they pulled him over and took him into custody.

The circumstances surrounding the fight are still unclear.

Police say Powell has a history of domestic violence.
