Workers at a Bridgeport nursing home say they are tired of late paychecks and unpaid insurance.

Employees at Bridgeport Healthcare and Bridgeport Manor on Bond Street held an Easter rally Sunday.

The angry workers came out to speak to Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Mayor Joe Ganim. They say things have not gotten better even though the Department of Labor began investigating their employer.

Some employees like Teresa Ortiz say they are being refused vital medical care because their medical bills are not being paid.

Blumenthal says a federal probe into Bridgeport Manor was triggered after News 12 Connecticut broke a story regarding bounced paychecks and unpaid insurance.

Workers like Stephanie Scott say the problems went away for some time, but then returned.

"It's disgusting," Scott said. "I feel that it's improper, it's just disrespectful."

Union President Sherrie Weller says she wants to make things right and will hold another rally Monday afternoon.

Workers say they still come into their jobs because they refuse to let their patients pay the price.

Bridgeport Manor has not responded to News 12's request for a comment.
