Police: Body found on road in Woodbridge
The Woodbridge police chief confirmed to News 12 they are investigating a homicide on Rimmon Road.
Police say they were alerted to a body in the middle of the road near Deer Run Road just before 10 a.m.
Connecticut State Police Department Major Crimes Squad has been called in to help with the investigation.
Police are not releasing how the person died, whether it's believed the crime occurred there, or if the body was dumped at that location.
Neighbor Michael Berkley said that he thought he heard gunshots near the area within in the hour before police arrived.
He said he assumed it was a car backfiring, but later realized something was going on when he heard several sirens.
The police activity led to a shelter in place order at Amity Regional High School, but police say there was no immediate danger to the school. The shelter in place order was lifted as of 11:10 a.m.
