Bridgeport pastors, community hold press conference over training program

Pastors and community leaders are starting up another fight with the city and PSEG over a controversial training program in Bridgeport.
Community members held a press conference in front of City Hall criticizing the Ganim administration.

The group says neither the city nor PSEG has followed the Community Environmental Benefits Agreement that was agreed to by all sides.
The agreement was also supposed to bring valuable apprentice jobs to the Park City.
"We're in dire need of a construction workforce initiative,” says Pastor William McCullough. “At some point we have to stand up and be heard and stop allowing economic developers to come to our city and do what they want to do.”

PSEG says they are working to uphold the agreement.
“Most of the members of the community, most of the representatives who are elected to serve that community are working very closely with us to make sure the community environmental benefits agreement is implemented,” says Richard Thigpen, VP of State Government Affairs at PSEG.
A spokesman for Mayor Ganim says the city is looking into the claims made by the protestors.
