Police say they have arrested a man who allegedly caused a car accident that sent himself and seven others to the hospital Friday night.

Police say 27-year-old David Olivier is being charged with driving while intoxicated and refusing to take an breath alcohol test.

Witnesses say the driver was speeding down Flatbush Avenue when his silver vehicle collided head-on with two others.

They say the car then hit four male pedestrians standing on the sidewalk, ages 17, 21, 22 and 45.

Police say those injured are the four male pedestrians, two female drivers 22 and 39-years-old, Olivier and his 24-year-old passenger.

The 17-year-old's condition is the most serious at the time. He is suffering from head and leg trauma but is expect to survive.

"They got hit too hard, really hard, they blowup and everything outside everything destroyed," said witness Raul Valdez. "I don't know how they survived, it's a miracle."

Valdez says police have been trying to crack down on speeding in this area.
