The Lincoln High School baseball team played alongside members of the NYPD Sunday.
Students on the team told News 12 they were excited to be playing with officers from the NYPD.
The athletic director for Lincoln High School says the game is a good way for his players to warm up for the regular season and to see the officers as role models in the community.
"I just feel like it gives them a better outreach and it allows our kids to see there is life beyond baseball here at high school," said NYPD baseball team president Jose Vazquez.
The NYPD also gave out hats to the student athletes.
The NYPD says having fun together helps to foster a good relationship with the student athletes. They say they have such a good relationship with Lincoln High School that they use their gym to exercise.
