One Brooklyn program is grooming the community with a free barber apprenticeship program in East New York.
Master barber Christopher Workman trains young people how to cut hair. His goal is for his students to pass the barber apprentice exam and become a professional barber.
Good Shepherd Services started the training studio in January. The students get a hands-on experience by giving free haircuts to the community.
The free program is part of the Academic and Career Enrichment program at Good Shepherd.
Once the students graduate in June, Good Shepherd says they will go on to get jobs at local barbershops.
