Sexual harassment hearing held in Hartford

Lawmakers in Hartford met to discuss and update sexual harassment policies and procedures.
The capitol's human resources department last updated its sexual harassment policy in 2014 with stronger language, a requirement that all employees receive training and improvements for people to file complaints.
Officials say it's important to be proactive in keeping people safe at work.
"I think this is an excellent opportunity really to take in an evaluation of where we are at legislature and what we can do to be more proactive,” says House Speaker Joe Aresimowicz. “We've seen both in Congress and other legislatures throughout the country where there's been issues, and I think providing a safe place for folks to work is our goal."
Legislative staff will soon receive a survey that the human resources department says it will use to further improve sexual harassment policies and procedures.
