Young authors were recognized for their work in Stamford this weekend.
Students from third through 12th grade won awards for writing original works of fiction, non-fiction and poetry at the Ferguson Library.
While the students were recognized in front of their peers, judges read excerpts of their work to the crowd.
“You’re never too young to start to write and read, and this often can lead to a passion in life, even if not, a career,” said Ferguson Library President, Alice Knapp.

Students also got the opportunity to hear motivational words from a published author.
The event is in its 33rd year.
