Stamford 8th-graders to receive internet safety training

Keeping kids safe while exploring the internet was the focus of a new partnership between a Stamford school and Altice USA.

The company launched Altice Connect Smart at Dolan Middle School.

News 12 Connecticut's Eric Landskroner moderated the event with Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Altice CEO Dexter Goei.

The entire eighth-grade will have the training beginning next year.
"A lot of kids are doing stupid stuff online and they're not being careful,” said student Aaron Stark.  “And I definitely think it's important to know how to be safe online and know what's OK and what's not OK to do.”
"It's an exciting world, but it's also a world where we need to do things responsibly and know the dangers of security, cyber-bullying, or lack of privacy and sharing too much information and the right amount of information is critical," said Dexter Goei.
Altice is the parent company of the Optimum Brand and News 12 Connecticut.
