Erin Stewart drops out of governor’s race

HARTFORD -

Just hours before the state's GOP convention, Erin Stewart has dropped out of the governor's race.

The New Britain mayor is instead reportedly opting to run for lieutenant governor.

Stewart entered the governor's race in March.

She announced last month she had picked Greenwich First Selectman Peter Tesei as her running mate.

The convention is being held at Foxwoods.
