After severe storms knocked down large trees behind a home on Candlewood Lake Road in Brookfield, the owner is wondering whether tornados were to blame.
The National Weather Service had issued a tornado warning for parts of the state as powerful storms swept across Tuesday afternoon.
Rob Blick says he saw swirling winds whipping his yard as several huge trees fell and one was uprooted entirely.
"The wind was going in every direction all at once," he says. "We thought our car was gonna flip."
He says the storm was so bad that he and his son were trapped in a park for about an hour before it was safe to get out.
Falling trees also tore down power lines in the neighborhood, leaving it without power. The nearby St. Marguerite Church appeared to have escaped the storm's wrath.
In Danbury, authorities say at least one person died and two firefighters were injured during Tuesday's storms.
