No bail for Huntington Station man charged in NJ man’s murder

A Huntington Station man was remanded without bail Wednesday after being charged in the murder of a New Jersey man outside a Lindenhurst bar.
Police say an altercation began inside 105 Grados and continued outside the establishment on March 31. During the fight, police say two men were shot and three were stabbed.
Authorities had been searching for Hector Gonzalez, 27, who they say is responsible for the shooting death of Herminio Torres, 25, of Elizabeth, New Jersey. He was arrested Tuesday.
The prosecutor said Gonzalez admitted to being a member of the Latin Kings gang. He has three failures to appear in court and one prior felony drug conviction.
Members of Gonzalez’s family and Torres’ family were in the Central Islip courtroom, where tensions were high.
At one point during the arraignment, a friend of Torres’ family said that Gonzalez should “rot in hell.”
Gonzalez told News 12 on his way to court that “I didn’t shoot anybody. They got the wrong person.”
Torres’ cousin told News 12 that Hector once lived in Huntington Station. She said he was back in town for a friend’s birthday party.
