Stamford held its ninth annual Bike to Work Day at Veterans Park downtown.
The city partners with People Friendly Stamford for the event, geared toward making the city a more pedestrian and bicycle-friendly place.
Mayor David Martin participated in the event and said bike lanes have already been added to Shippan Avenue and Summer Street and will also be added along High Ridge Road.
Jerry Silver, of People Friendly Stamford, said the event is about “getting people to understand and appreciate that hey, you can enjoy life more by walking and biking, is what we learned. So it's not just putting in bike lanes, it's changing the way people think."
