Celiac Awareness Month and the gluten-free movement

May is Celiac Awareness Month.
According to the Celiac Disease Foundation, the disease is “a serious autoimmune disorder that can occur in genetically predisposed people where the ingestion of gluten leads to damage in the small intestine.”
About 1 in 100 people worldwide are affected with the disorder, according to the foundation.
News 12 New Jersey spoke with Tom Doyle, the founder of Promise Gluten Free bakery, about the products made without gluten that people who have Celiac, or just simply wish to avoid gluten, can try.
