Totowa police officer witnesses stabbing; suspect arrested

A Totowa man is facing charges after a deadly stabbing outside a convenience store that was witnessed by an on-duty police officer.
The Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office says that the officer was at the Quick Chek on Union Boulevard early Sunday morning and witnessed 33-year-old Damien Edwards attack 35-year-old Justin Parker just outside of the entrance to the store.
Officials say that the officer tried to take Edwards into custody, but Edwards was able to get away. Edwards was arrested a short time later by responding police units.
Authorities say that Parker was stabbed in the torso and died at the scene.
