Southbury police standoff ends with suspect’s arrest

The standoff between state police and a Southbury man barricaded inside his home since early Monday morning has ended, authorities say.
It began at 2 a.m. on Purchase Brook Road, which police blocked off on both ends for more than 12 hours.
Police say the suspect suffered no injury, but after arresting him they brought him for an emergency medical evaluation.
State police called in their tactical team to bring the man out of his home.
There were other people in the home who escaped unharmed, according to authorities.
Police spent hours negotiating with the man. They say no shots were fired, but they were operating under the assumption that he might have been armed.
Purchase Brook Road has since reopened.
