Man saves 4-year-old girl from choking

A Uniondale woman says she thought her 4-year-old granddaughter was going to choke to death on a piece of candy before a man intervened and saved her.
Sabrina Beal says she panicked and tried to help the child by slapping her on the back to no avail.
"I was going to lose her," she says of her granddaughter Amaya Gardner. "I was just thinking it could have been her funeral."
Then Nick Arevalo stepped in, calmly performed the Heimlich maneuver and saved the little girl's life.
Arevalo is a physical therapy assistant at the New York Spine Institute in Westbury, where Beal is a patient.
"Nick was positioned as an angel yesterday," she says.
"I'm happy everything is fine," says Arevalo. "She was safe."
