The Fairfield Museum and History Center held its annual Memorial Day community picnic following the town's parade Monday.
Families broke out their picnic baskets and blankets for an afternoon filled with food, music, crafts and games.
People of all ages competed in a three-legged race, a watermelon-eating contest and a water balloon toss.
Organizers say it was a great way to bring together the community.
The Fairfield Museum is a member of the Blue Star Museums program. Participating locations offer free admission for all active duty, National Guard and reserve military personnel and their families from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
