Four teen suspects were arrested following an attempted carjacking in Shelton.
Police say the incident began when a woman got out of her car to mail a letter in the Community Center parking lot on Huntington Street. She was approached by a man who demanded she give him her keys, and he pushed her to the ground.
Police say the woman's 13-year-old daughter screamed, scaring the man. He left the scene in a green Subaru.
A short time later, police say the suspect and three other people inside the car were seen trying to break into cars on Fern Drive in Shelton.
Eventually, the car crashed on White Plains Road in Trumbull.
They say one suspect was arrested, but the others ran away. They were eventually located and also taken into custody.
The suspects include 18-year-old Antone Grant-Chalmers, a 17-year-old, and two 16-year-olds, all from the area.
Officers from Shelton, Trumbull, Stratford and Bridgeport all responded to the incident.
Police say the woman is doing OK, and they credit her daughter with preventing something worse from happening.
Police are looking into whether the group is responsible for other recent car break-ins in the area.
