Police: Driver thrown from vehicle in fatal Merritt Parkway crash

State police say one person was killed in a crash Tuesday night on the Merritt Parkway.
They say the accident happened just before 10 p.m. between exits 41 and 40-B south.
According to police, 46-year-old Hongyin Tian, of Avon, was speeding when she drove into the median, crashed into the guardrail and hit a tree before ending up on the shoulder of the northbound side of the parkway.
Sgt. Robert Derry says the speed of the collision and violent impact caused Tian's engine and transmission to become dislodged and for her to be ejected from the car. She was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Debris from the impact hit one car, and another vehicle drove into the transmission. No one inside those vehicles was injured.
All southbound lanes were reopened Wednesday around 5 a.m. after shutting down overnight as state police investigated.
Anyone who witnessed the crash is asked to call police.
